GreenUnity Ukraine’s Participation in the 2025 ECOSOC Partnership Forum

GreenUnity Ukraine is honored to have participated in the 2025 ECOSOC Partnership Forum, held on 5 February at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This year’s forum centered around the theme “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), leaving no one behind.” Our organization, committed to environmental protection and sustainable development, recognizes the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling global challenges and is proud to contribute to the discourse surrounding these vital goals.

The forum specifically focused on five key SDGs that will be reviewed during the 2025 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF): Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), Goal 14 (Life Below Water), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). These SDGs are particularly relevant to our mission as they align with our commitment to environmental sustainability, human rights, and fostering global partnerships for a more resilient future.

As part of the preparations for the forum, the UN provided a Partnership Snapshot, highlighting successful partnerships and initiatives that contribute to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. GreenUnity Ukraine has been deeply involved in promoting evidence-based environmental policies, enhancing cross-border collaboration, and working with international stakeholders to address environmental crimes, particularly those affecting marine life and biodiversity. Our work with key partners, including INTERPOL and the U.S. Department of Justice, plays a crucial role in advancing Goal 14—Life Below Water—through enhanced marine protection and addressing pollution threats in the Black and Azov Seas.

The forum’s SDG Action Segments, which focused on Goals 3, 5, 8, and 14, provided an important platform to showcase innovative solutions and partnerships. GreenUnity Ukraine was represented by its leader, Stanislav Sonich, who attended the forum and engaged in meaningful dialogues with global leaders, policymakers, and civil society to explore ways to accelerate progress toward these goals. He emphasized the necessity of science-driven approaches and the importance of inclusive policy frameworks that leave no one behind.

In line with the goals of the 2025 ECOSOC Partnership Forum, we reaffirmed our commitment to the 2030 Agenda and highlighted the critical role of multi-stakeholder partnerships. At GreenUnity Ukraine, we believe that collaboration is key to achieving sustainable development, and we continue to work tirelessly to bridge gaps between governments, the private sector, and civil society. Together, we can create lasting solutions that safeguard our planet, promote social equity, and drive economic development for all.

The forum was a powerful reminder that meaningful progress toward the SDGs can only be achieved through collective action. GreenUnity Ukraine is proud to contribute to this global movement and looks forward to further engaging with partners to advance sustainable development worldwide.
